How to Differentiate with Boom Cards™

Boom Cards™ are digital interactive task cards that are self checking and give the teacher data! Boom Cards™ allow you to differentiate and assign students decks of cards and give the teachers all the power! They also can include sound and read aloud to students!

Once of my most frequently asked questions about Boom Cards™ is how to differentiate them! So I have some tips for differentiate Boom Cards™ to share with you!

All of my Boom Cards™ on TPT include an interactive PDF and Boom Cards™deck, this gives you options and more accessibility. You need the internet to access Boom (but it does work on any device, internet or app) but you don’t need the internet for interactive PDFs. If you need both, make sure to purchase your Boom Cards™ from my TPT store instead of my Boom Store.

All of my digital activities are available in 3 levels. Errorless, Basic, and advanced.

What do the levels mean?

Errorless: picture to picture from field of 1

Basic: picture to picture from field of 2

Advanced: picture to word from field of 2

Tips for Differentiating on Boom:

+ You can assign decks by individual student or whole classroom in your library

+ You can hide cards. Go to library and click through the deck and select the hide cards (eye symbol) on any cards you don’t want your students to see.

+ Boom is self checking, they give students immediate feedback and the student can’t move on until they get it right.

+ Use the “Custom Play Settings” to select a certain number of cards to show each play.

+ All of my Boom Cards™ decks have 3 levels (available separately on Boom and in bundles by level and topic on TPT) which makes it easy to assign each student a deck at their level on the same topic.

+ Use data to make instructional decisions! Boom gives the teacher student reports, which will help the teacher to decide to move each student up or down a level when necessary

+ All of my Boom Cards™ decks have audio prompts that are read aloud immediately when the card opens. The advanced level will read each answer choice to the student when they click the sound symbol above the word.

Are you ready to get started? You can read more about setting up your Boom account in this blog post. You can visit my Boom store here. You can visit my TPT bundles at the links below!
