BOOM LEARNING: Digital Self Checking Task Cards for Special Education

Chances are you are here because you are new to BOOM cards! I’m ready to answer all of your boom cards questions!

What are boom cards?

Boom Cards are digital interactive games that are self checking and give the teacher data! Boom cards allow you to differentiate and assign students decks of cards and give the teachers all the power! They also can include sound and read aloud to students!

What does self checking mean?

These cards are digital, students get immediate feedback…AND you don’t have to grade them! You get the data to your teacher dashboard immediately.

What types of questions are on boom cards?

Multiple choice (great for our students!), fill in the blank, moveable pieces (for sorting) and more!

What type of data do you get?

Boom will give you data on accuracy AND how quickly the student can answer! You can see live data for each student on your classroom dashboard. Your students must each have an account and login to play (not use fast pins) for you to get student reports.

How do you share decks with students?

There are two ways to share decks with students. You can share a fast pin to allow students to play instantly (great for google classroom, seesaw, whole group, and smart boards) or you can assign decks to each student and have them login to play (and then the teacher receives data reports).

What is fast play mode?

Fast play mode is the mode students play in when they receive a fast pin. When you send students a fast pin, they will not have to login to access the Boom deck. It will open right up on their device. Student data is not recorded this way but it is still self checking as the student will receive feedback on each question if it’s right or wrong and be able to try again! Fast play mode works great for whole group, white boards, homework or quick assignments, and small group learning- but if you want to collect student data you will want to make each student a login and assign decks individually.

Can I create my own Boom cards?

YES! You can use the studio to create your own boom cards for free. If you want to sell the boom cards in your own store you will need the ultimate membership.

Where can I buy Boom cards?

You can buy boom cards on TPT or directly on Boom by clicking on store to search.

How do I access the Boom cards I purchased?

If you buy boom cards on TPT, you will receive a PDF with a link to access your deck. Once you access the deck it will remain in your BOOM library forever!

What do the points mean on the Boom Learning website?

If you want to purchase on the Boom Learning website, you will buy a points package. Right now, points are less than one penny per point! Most Boom cards sets are from 200-1000 points depending on how much they include!

Can I assign Boom Cards on Google Classroom or Seesaw?

Yes, here is the tutorial for using google classroom… the process is similar for Seesaw so this should help!

Is Boom Learning free?

CURRENT OFFER: Due to covid- 19 and for teachers and parents new to Boom Learning, you can receive a free premium membership through June 2020 that gives you access to the student performance reports . With this free trial, you can create up to 3 classrooms and add up to 150 students to each of those classrooms – when usually you can only do 5 students for free.

Take the offer here.

Boom cards are always free for reporting up to 5 students, but you can always use a fast pin for free ( a link that brings the student directly to the cards but doesn’t collect data) But if you have more than 5 students you may want to buy the membership because the reporting feature is amazing!

Why is Boom great for special education?

Special education teachers LOVE data and building independence in students and this digital resource does just that! With the data you receive, the randomizing of the decks, and the reduction in teacher to student prompting Boom will quickly become a staple in your special education classroom.
