My Daily Schedule in Special Ed

Do you ever get curious how other special ed teachers plan their daily schedule? I know I do! That is why I want to share my lesson plans and my daily schedule in my special ed classroom!

Let’s go through each time to peek inside my classroom so you can see what my students are doing at every hour of the school day!

Morning

8:00 – (Students arrive) They complete their name workbooks and Hello Binders

Morning work gives your students an activity to get the day started off right!

8:15 – Bathroom breaks then breakfast

Visual schedules are everything in special ed!

8:30 – Students check schedule– they will use these schedules throughout the day so they can transition between activities indendently

We do our Morning Meeting at our whole group center!

8:30-8:45 – Whole group Morning Meeting

Check for student understanding with daily calendar worksheets!

8:45 – Students split into small groups to complete leveled calendar worksheets so they can show their understanding

9:00 – Whole Group Story: “The Day You Begin” by: Jacqueline Woodson

Book companions are a great way to extend student learning!

9:10 – Split into small groups for “The Day You Begin” Reread then complete the Book Companion

9:30 – Snack then Leisure Activity

A task box center is perfect for independent work!

10:00 – ELA Centers (para led, teacher table, independent work, reward center)

Visual recipes work on tons of skills, also they’re fun!

11:00 – Lunch (make a visual recipe for a snack on Fridays)

We use Fine Motor Centers to work on fine motor skills, following directions, and independent work skills!

11:30 – Bathroom breaks then Fine Motor Centers

Afternoon

12:00 – Math Centers (para led, teacher table, independent work, reward center)

1:00 – Adapted Specials

2:00 – Recess

Work on real world vocabulary with this Life Skills Word Wall!

2:30 – Life Skills Centers

3:00 – Social story- this changes each week so we can work on different skills

3:15 – Bathroom breaks then packing up

3:30 – Dismissal
