10 IEP Goals for Math Adapted Books

YES! I am going to give you 10 of my favorite IEP goals in this blog post! I LOVE using adapted books in the classroom, and one of the number one questions I get about them is… “what are your IEP goals for them?”…. here’s the answer!

The goals I will be sharing below are simple outlines, they may not have all the information that your district requires of you. Make sure you alter the goal to meet the students specific needs and abilities, take baseline data before creating a goal, and also design the goal according to district regulations.

COINS IEP GOALS

By the end of the IEP period, student will match coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter) with a variety of materials (adapted book, cards, real coins) with (% accuracy and % independence) as measured by teacher collected data.

By the end of the IEP period, student will match an image of a coin to the coin name in print with (% accuracy and % independence) as measured by teacher collected data.

1:1 Correspondence

By (DATE), student will count 10-20 objects or pictures using 1:1 correspondence with (% accuracy and % independence) as measured by teacher collected data.

By (DATE), when given 1-10 objects and given a verbal cue “count the ___” student will count the objects and match to the correct number with (% accuracy) and (% independence) as measured by teacher collected data.

More or Less

By (DATE), when given the word more or less, student will match the correct pile by circling the answer with (% accuracy and % independence) as measured by teacher collected data.

By (DATE), when given a choice of two piles, student will match the correct word (more or less) with (% accuracy and % independence) as measured by teacher collected data.

Number Sequencing

By (DATE), when given 3 sequenced numbers student will find the number that comes next from a field of 4 with (% accuracy and % independence) as measured by teacher collected data.

By (DATE), when given 3 sequenced numbers student will find the number that comes next from a field of 10 with (% accuracy and % independence) as measured by teacher collected data.

Basic Shapes

By (DATE), when presented with a shape, student will match the identical shape from a field of 4 with (% accuracy and % independence) as measured by teacher collected data.

By (DATE), when presented with a shape, student will match the identical shape from a field of 10 with (% accuracy and % independence) as measured by teacher collected data.
