3 Steps to a Mock Special Education Interview

So you found a position you are interested in, applied for the job, and landed the interview… now what? It’s time to prep with a mock interview!

I highly recommend NOT going into an interview without preparation. The more you prepare the more confident you will appear and more likely you will be to land your dream job.

Here are 3 steps to preparing through a Mock Special Education Interview:

1. Find a Friend or Family member to help!

First things first, you will need a friend, spouse, family member, or neighbor to help you with this. Ask someone you are comfortable around if they would be willing to help you practice for an interview. I’m sure you can find someone who would be happy to help!

2. Have them ask you 5-10 questions randomly off a list.

The best way to prepare is to NOT know what is coming next. Have your helper ask you questions in random order and different questions each time in order to practice what it will be like in a real interview setting.

3. Ask them to give you HONEST feedback.

HONEST feedback is the best feedback. ESPECIALLY during a mock interview. Are you saying “um” too often? Do you use “like” when you are thinking? Ask for tips in order to appear more polished come interview day.

Repeat until the big day!

A mock interview will not only help you be more polished with your responses, but will also help you think about what you want to touch on for a variety of topics.

To help, I’ve compilied a list of 101 Special Education Interview Questions from real special education teachers who have interviewed in the last few years. These questions will be perfect for you to print, and use for a mock interview.
