There are jobs for special ed teachers outside the classroom still in schools!

Jobs in Schools

  • Reading/Math Specialist: work with small groups or individual students on targeted skills to build reading or math skills and collaborate with teachers and administration on instruction and curriculum
  • School Counselor: help students with social and emotional needs, work with small groups or individual students on targeted social/emotional skills
  • School Psychologist: work with students in need of special education evaluation, collaborate with teachers and administration on student needs and placement

Take your skills to the corporate setting!

Jobs Outside of Schools

  • Special Education Advocate: work with students, parents, and families to understand IEPs and their rights within the education system, advocate for access to supports needed for student success
  • Educational Consultant: provide feedback and suggestions to teachers and admin, make recommendations for strategies, curriculum, instruction, etc.
  • Corporate Trainer: train employees on tools used in their jobs, make tools and training accessible to all employees

  • Education Technology Specialist: develop education technology, train schools and teachers on the use of the technology, sell the technology to school districts
