10 things to buy a Special Education Teacher for Christmas

Special Education Teachers ALWAYS need something for their classroom.  Here are some ideas for the special educator in your life this Christmas season (and beyond!)!

(( This post will contain affiliate links. You don’t pay any more, but if you purchase from my link I get a small commission. This allows me to try everything out that I recommend to you and keep my blog running smoothly (and providing you free resources like this one- so thanks for clicking my links!))

1.BINDING MACHINE

You can never go wrong with this. If a special education teacher does not already have a binding machine– she NEEDS ONE. This will make all of her materials last longer, be stronger for her students, and look the best they can look. My materials last forever when they are coil bound. While this is definitely a splurge purchase, you can almost guarantee she won’t want to buy it herself, and she will be thanking you with coil bound books for a long time!

2. 13 INCH LAMINATOR

At this point, every special education teacher should have their own personal mini laminator. But did you know there is one out there that can easily laminate file folders? THIS 13 inch laminator is the one to go for this Christmas!

3. BALL CHAIR

Most special education teachers have students in their classroom that will benefit from this ball chair. For our students, you want to shoot for one with a sturdy base. I love how you don’t need to add the wheels on this one, so they are super stable for any student!

4.  Rainbow Organization Cart

These rainbow carts are like gold for special educators! (especially since we love color coding!) We have SO many different materials and resource to organize and we need the ability to grab them at a moments notice. It helps that this cart is so pretty too!

5. Velcro

These velcro dots are kind of a luxury. Most times, schools only buy the long strips (think of all that extra time and cutting!). OR they don’t buy any at all. Our students NEED these hands on resources, so velcro is an absolute must have. I can’t think of a single special educator who wouldn’t be jumping for joy opening this gift.

6.  Cardstock

This goes hand in hand with velcro. Most times, cardstock is not supplied at all. And regular paper just doesn’t last-even if it’s laminated. We can go through this stack of card stock REAL quick, and the expense can add up! Think of all the resources that can be made out of this!

7. Lamination

Oh lamination, how we all love you. The school lamination is just not the same. It peels so quickly! If you have your own personal laminator, that means you’ll have to buy the lamination sheets too. This is a great time of year to stock up on lamination!

8. Fiskars Scissors

With all that lamination and velcro, you need HIGH QUALITY SCISSORS. They slide right across and make cutting quick and easy, and don’t hurt your hands! Again, not really something you want to buy for yourself but these scissors make a great stocking stuffer!

9. Sense of Time Sand Timers

I think these timers were my very first Christmas Gift that was classroom related- and to this day I cannot live without! These sand timers are BIG, durable, and long lasting. The color coding makes it easy to grab and go. I love all the different times included (and they are also available individually!! Sand timers are definitely my go to gift for new special education teachers!

10. Color Laser Printer

This is definitely a splurge. But I have to include it. Color printers are hard to come by (how do you teach colors with no color ink?) Color printing shouldn’t be a luxury for our classrooms but sometimes it is. Before I got a laser printer– I had a BIG ink bill each month. This just isn’t practical for a teacher. Now that I splurged on the laser printer, I am only buying ink once or twice a year. It’s a huge long term savings.

As special educators, we can never have enough resources, materials, or support. What better thing could you get them for Christmas than something that can support them and their students!

Hey special education teachers! Pin this image to your pinterest board, or click the links in this post (affiliate links) to add the items to an amazon wishlist! You can also just share this post on facebook or with family and friends! I hope you get everything you want this Christmas!
