5 Easy to Clean Toys for Special Education Classrooms

Who needs easy to clean toys? Many special education teachers have to reduce the amount of toys available to their students this year due to COVID- 19 guidelines. This means no soft toys, blankets, chair, or stuffed animals for sure… but any toys that were difficult to clean also had to be removed.

Here is my list of 5 easy to clean toys for your classroom this year. These toys don’t have small crevices to clean in and can easily be wiped down after student use and sprayed over night.

1. Magnetic Tiles

Magnetic Tiles are great for building and easy to sanitize for your special education classroom.

Squigz are a great toy for sticking together, building on a window or mirror, or sorting by color. They stick to a desk and to each other. They have no small parts and are easy to clean and sanitize! My toddler loves this toy all the way up to my former special education middle school students. This is a versatile toy for many ages! The best part? These are dishwasher safe!

3. Spin Again Toy (affiliate link)

If you follow me on instagram you know that this is a favorite of my family! We love the spin again toy and I know many students who have loved this toy too. It’s easy to clean, durable, and has a variety of ways you can play with it. It holds interest for a long time and is just an overall fantastic toy for home or the classroom.

If you grew up in the 90s you probably had this classic sit n’ spin toy! For Elementary and younger this is a great toy for a movement break. This toy will give your students a motor break and also practice their balance skills! It’s super easy to wipe down in between students and spray down at the end of each day.

5. Dimpl (affiliate link)

The Dimpl is always on my list for both toys and sensory materials and this is yet another list it fits on. The Dimpl is great for sensory integration, cause and effect, and fine motor skills. It can easily be wiped between uses and sprayed at the end of the day making this a perfect choice.

Need more toys? Here is a list of my favorite sensory toys!
