Teaching Women in History

I have a new LOVE for using REAL pictures when talking about important people in our history. It all started with this set of comprehension flip books for Black History Month last year, and I am doing the same in my new Women in History set!

Our students are used to pictures. Clipart and visuals are SO IMPORTANT for them to learn. But clipart of important people just does not do them justice. Our students need to see the real faces of the women who have paved the way for us!

The covers of these flip books can also serve as posters for your classroom after you use them! It would be so inspiring to see these in the classroom each day!

How to use in the classroom:

+ Bind into a book for each person. Include the picture, short biography, and questions.

+ Bind into one big book to keep them all together!

+ Laminate the pages and have students use a dry erase marker for extended use.

+ Print and go, to use as worksheets!

+ Print the cover pages to use as inspiring posters for the classroom afterwards.

+ Use as a part of your womens history lesson, or introduce a women each day or week!

Read each story aloud as a group or have students read to themselves. You could even look the women up after to practice research skills, watch videos, and learn more about them to extend the lesson!

After reading the biography page. Have students answer the quiz pages. They can do so using a dry erase, or you can print these black and white so you can send them home!

You can download these Women in History Flip Books HERE!

If you like activities like this one,  check out the set I made for Black History Month here!
