April Visual Crafts for Special Education

Spring is almost here! As the days get longer and temperatures start to rise, I love to fill my classroom with color and light. One way to get my students involved in this spring refresh is by making crafts together! Luckily, the April Visual Crafts pack has everything I need to spruce up my room while building student skills! Read on to learn all about these awesome April crafts!

What are Visual Crafts?

Visual crafts give students the steps they need to work with independence!

Visual crafts are a wonderful way to build independence! Students will use visual directions to complete a craft project. Each craft has step-by-step visual instructions, a cut-and-paste sentence, materials checklists, a craft sequencing activity, and a review survey. So, in addition to the creative and fine motor work students will do with the craft, they will also work on writing, sequencing, and self-monitoring skills! You can try out a FREE visual craft here!

There are fun crafts for the whole month of April!

Every Visual Craft bundle comes with four projects. The projects in the April pack include:

-Paper Plate Earth

-Raindrop Suncatcher

-Stained Glass Butterfly

-Tissue Paper Bunny Tail

Crafting in the Classroom

Making crafts is such a fun addition to the classroom.

One of the best things about these visual crafts is that they encourage student independence! Visual crafts let students complete projects with less prompting from adults. As students learn to follow the visual directions on their own, they will build independence and sequencing skills that carry over into other activities in the classroom!

Sentence activity from the craft kit is shown with the sentence "Every day is earth day."
Adding a sentence to crafts incorporates academic skills!

Additionally, these crafts are easy to differentiate for student needs! For example, you can offer adapted tools such as loop scissors or flip crayons. Also, the sentences that go with each craft can be completed with different response choices such as independent writing, tracing, or visual pictures. Offering student choices promotes greater independence!

These visual crafts are a cute, creative, and fun way to help your students build skills! Do you craft with your class? Share some of your favorite projects below!
