Understanding the sequence of days and months is such an important life skill for our students! Looking for a way to practice this skill in your classroom? Daily Calendar Worksheets are for you! Read on to learn all about this amazing resource, and see how I use it in my room!
What are Daily Calendar Worksheets?
Daily Calendar Worksheets are a one-page sheet that covers crucial skills for every day of the school year! Each worksheet has the following activities:
-Circle the day of the week
-Write the month
-Color the date
-Color the year
-Write tomorrow
-Write yesterday
-Circle the weather
On the Level 1 sheets, students trace the word. For level 2, they write the words.
In addition to the daily calendar sheets, there are also monthly sheets! On a monthly sheet, students will identify holidays for the month and the season of the year.
Data Points
Since there is a sheet for every school day, these worksheets serve as EXCELLENT data points! By saving each sheet for a period of time, you can easily see the growth that students make in legibility and independence!
How I Use Daily Calendar Sheets in my Classroom
I use these sheets daily as part of my writing block. I review the day’s date every day during morning meeting. Then, during writing centers the concept is reinforced with the Calendar Worksheets. Writing the date is a great way for students to warm up for a writing lesson. It also helps reinforce capitalization rules! Depending on students’ skill level, I also have them write the entire date on the back of the paper, or practice writing the date in number format. To save on copies, you can put the worksheets inside of sheet protectors, (affiliate link) and students can use dry erase markers to complete them.
These worksheets could also be used as a great addition to your morning meeting routine, especially when paired with an item like these free Morning Meeting Calendar labels. Or, they can be used as morning work for students to complete as they enter the room each day.
