New Year Must Haves

New Year: Must Haves in the Autism Classroom

Can you believe the new year is almost here? This vacation I have been doing some much needed relaxing, creating, prepping, and napping with the puppy!

This year I have found so many items for my classroom that I simply cannot live without! I have gotten alot of questions about the materials I use to prep and in my classroom, so I have decided to compile a my must haves list!

Top of the list, is and forever will be my Scotch laminator. I could not live without it. It is the fastest laminator I have used and gets the job done better than any school laminator. It’s easy to pack up and bring back and forth from school too!

You gotta have laminating sheets to go with the laminator. The scotch ones are great but I think the amazon brand are the best! highly comparable to the scotch with a great price! I buy a bunch ( like TEN packs) at once so I don’t have to worry about running out in the middle of a project.

VELCRO is a must have in a special ed classroom, especially for nonwriters! I usually get my velcro in bulk from Feiner Supply but if you aren’t ready to go bulk yet you can start on amazon.  I prefer the dots to skip the cutting step. If you have students with visual disabilities you will wanna choose the black version, so they are better able to discriminate where to stick the card from the white background!

Cardstock! I LOVE the Neenah bright white brand on amazon! I love the thickness of this paper and it is nice and bright and smooth. Works great with the lamination too! I usually buy this in bulk too as you can see! I hate running out!Cardstock

My latest obsession is my rubicoil! It is perfect to bind together all those adapted books you’ve been stocking up on all year! (Especially if you own the year long bundle!) The coils are much better than classic binding that can easily be pulled apart by fidgety kiddos!Rubicoil laminater

& you need coils!

BINDERS! I use binders for alot of my curriculum, especially my boardmaker vocab units and grocery store units! Here are the ones I buy!

I also got my true love, my Brother laser printer this year! It is great for printing LOTS of color and I have only refilled the cartridges ONCE! It’s amazing & worth the splurge!

I’ve also gotten some fun new things for my classroom this year!

The Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game!

& lots of fidgets!

But my all time favorite MUST HAVE in my classroom is my sportstime sand timers!

Now get celebrating the new year and all that it will bring! I won’t say what I am wishing for this year! 🙂
