Social Skills Lessons with Emoquest

Support social emotional development through a series of games where kids learn about emotions and how to navigate social skills.

As a special education teacher in the self-contained setting, I am always looking for new resources to teach social skills. Emoquest is an app that helps K-5 special education students with social-emotional skills through interactive social stories.

What is Emoquest?

EmoQuest is a unique app that turns social skills learning into fun. The app is designed specifically for young children in grades K-5, making it an ideal tool for special education teachers, parents, and speech therapists who want to support the development of social-emotional skills. Through a series of games and interactive stories, kids embark on a journey where they not only learn about emotions but also how to navigate social situations with confidence.

How Emoquest works:

Inside Emoquest you get access to 26 stories following the main character Jimmy. Your students get to choose what Jimmy does in each story, making the learning interactive and fun! Your students will not only be able to guess what emotions Jimmy is having in the story, but also choose what happens next, and see that outcome play out.

Why Emoquest is important:

The social scenarios inside Emoquest allow students to decide how to respond, something that is difficult to practice in real life. These challenges allow teachers to simulate real-life situations, such as making a new friend, handling a disagreement, or working together as a team. By practicing these interactions in a virtual setting, children gain the confidence to apply what they’ve learned in their daily lives. There are so many stories included already and they are adding more stories all the time!

Social Skills Stories included:

  • Personal Space
  • Stranger Danger
  • Leaving Recess
  • Taking Terms
  • Expressing Anger
  • Sharing Friends
  • Asking to Join
  • Compromise
  • Not Interrupting
  • Potty Training
  • Cheering Up a Friend
  • + More!

This app is a great resources for any social skills groups, speech therapy groups, or special education classrooms and would be a great addition to your independent work routine in the classroom, as the student could follow along in the app without many interventions!

The best part about Emoquest is that there are lots of ways to use it! The app is available on IOS or android and you could also use it for whole group lessons by sharing your screen with a smart board!

Emoquest is Low Pressure!

The app is particularly beneficial for children with social or emotional challenges, including those with autism or anxiety, as it provides a structured and engaging way to build essential life skills.

EmoQuest is more than just an app—it’s a journey that helps kids develop the social skills they need to succeed both in school and in life. By making learning about emotions and social interactions fun and interactive, EmoQuest empowers children to become more confident, empathetic, and socially aware individuals.
