10 YouTube Videos for Morning Meeting

My favorite time of day in my self-contained classroom is Morning Meeting. It is a routine activity that my students love and I don’t have to worry about prepping for it every day. I use tons of YouTube videos in my morning meeting routine. In this post, I’ll share with you 10 YouTube videos for morning meeting.

The first YouTube video I use during my morning meeting routine is the Hello Song by The Singing Walrus. My kids love The Singing Walrus! I like playing this song first thing in the morning because my kids love this song and it lets them know we are going to get our day started.

Welcome to School by Signing Time!

The next YouTube video I play is Welcome to School by Signing Time. I like using this Youtube video for a couple reasons: it teaches my students some sign language and it reviews school expectations.

Once we have settled in for the day and reviewed our classroom rules, we watch our days of the week video. I like using The Days of the Week Song by The Singing Walrus. This video uses lots of repetition which is great for our students. I use this video to practice putting the days in order and determining today, yesterday, and tomorrow.

The next YouTube video I use in my morning meeting is 12 Months! by Harry Kindergarten Music. This video is great for repetition of the months, and it also teaches that at the end of the year you start back over in January.

The next video I use changes each month. I use the month videos by Jack Hartmann. You can find an example of a month video here. (It’s the Month of June by Jack Hartmann) My students absolutely love Jack Hartmann and all his videos! They get excited at the beginning of each month when I put our new month song into morning meeting.

Counting by Signing Time!

After the month song, we watch Counting by Signing Time! We use this video to practice counting, counting using sign language, and finding the date on a calendar.

Twelve Months of the Year by Storybots

The next YouTube video we watch is Twelve Months of the Year by Storybots. I like using this song when we practice what year it is because it teaches after the twelve months another year has gone by and we move on to the next year.

Inside Out- Get to Know Your Emotions

After we work on the elements of the calendar, we watch a clip from the movie Inside Out- Get to Know Your Emotions. This is hands down my students’ favorite video during morning meeting. It has also helped tremendously with my students being able to identify their emotions.

Check Out the Weather! by Harry Kindergarten Music

Next we use the video by Harry Kindergarten Music- Check out the Weather! Photo by YouTube.com

After we talk about feelings and emotions, we watch Check Out the Weather! by Harry Kindergarten Music. I like this video because it goes through each type of weather with visual supports. My kids also love spelling each type of weather with the video!

The last video we watch during morning meeting is The Seasons of the Year by Storybots. Storybots videos are some of my students’ favorites. I like that this video teaches that their are four seasons in a year.
