I am so excited to talk about 5 songs for morning meeting!
Morning meeting is my favorite way to start my day in my self-contained K-2nd autism classroom. We can cover SO many topics, skills, and set a solid routine from day one!
Take a look at this post from Alyssa to learn how to get started and structure your very own Morning meeting!
Greetings
Greetings are an excellent expectation to set at your morning meeting routine! One song I use to signal our morning meeting routine and start greetings is Good Morning by Greg and Steve. When my students hear this song, they know it is time to stop what they are doing and head over to our group time.
Months of the Year
Months of the year is a very important skill to teach to my students. Not only do we discuss what month it is, we also talk about what month comes before and after the current month. The song I love to use for this is: The Months Chant by Super Simple Songs. My students love to sing along with this one during our morning meeting!
Days of the Week
Just as important as months of the year, are the days of the week. We talk about today, yesterday, and tomorrow during my morning meeting. To help with this skill, the song I love to play during my morning meeting is: The 7 Days of the Week Song by The Learning Station. This one helps with memorization!
Seasons of the Year
Seasons of the year is another important topic to cover during morning meeting. One fun song I love to use to teach seasons of the year is: Seasons Song by Have Fun Teaching. The students love this one, too!
Weather
One last great topic to cover during morning meeting is weather. I love to play my students this calming song: Sun, Rain, Wind, and Snow by The Singing Walrus to help teach different types of weather. It has really helped keep my students engaged and learning during morning meeting!
I hope you enjoyed reading about the 5 songs for morning meeting that I use! Let me know in the comments about other great songs to use for morning meeting!
