Digital WH Goals for At Home Learning

We have been thrown full force into digital learning, and for special education teachers- this is a huge challenge! Finding digital resources that work for the students in our classroom with varying disabilities is no easy task. I polled my facebook group about what goals are most important during this time, and as usual WH questions are at the top of everyones list. So I took my bestselling paper resource, and made a digital version (interactive PDF + Boom Cards).

What does digital really mean?

A digital resource is any resource that requires no printing and can be used on a device such as an iPad, laptop, chromebook, or phone. There are many ways to make a resource digital right now. Google classroom has tools to make your resources drag and drop, but the drag and drop is difficult to manage for students who may have fine motor difficulties. I find interactive pdfs a lot easier to use with this population.

What is an interactive PDF?

An interactive PDF does not have to be used on the internet (you can download and use offiline) unlike google classroom. An interactive PDF is a PDF that has ” buttons” for students to press to respond. My interactive PDFs are self checking, give right or wrong feedback, and have main menus. Interactive PDFs do not take data or have sound.

What is Boom Learning?

Boom is a an internet based activity that be completed through an app. It has slide decks that are self checking, take data, read the question aloud, and allow the teachers to assign decks. It’s a great resource! My WH questions are available as a mixed wh quiz on boom. You can check out boom here.

What does self checking mean?

Self checking means that you cannot move on until the correct answer is selected. My interactive PDFs give immediate right or wrong feedback. If the student gets the answer wrong, they are forwarded back to the question to try again. If they get it right they get a success page and can move on to the next question.

How does digital WH work?

Digital WH questions is an interactive PDF that allows the student to choose a WH category and work through the 30 WH questions for each to practice. The quiz button gives mixed WH questions and is shorter. When you purchase the digital WH questions you also receive access to the BOOM cards deck. The link will take you to boom and give you access to the deck. The boom cards deck acts as a quiz for the students after practicing in the interactive pdf. The deck randomizes each time, gives the teacher data, allows the teacher to assign decks, gives right or wrong feedback, and reads the question aloud to the student!
