Sight Word Bean Bag

Sight Word Bean Bag is the PERFECT way to keep your students working on skills while also getting them up and moving! Read on to find out how to implement this fun activity!

If you are working on sight word fluency, your students have sight word goals, or you are wanting your students to become more independent in reading – this activity is perfect! We cannot just present sight words in the same way every day, we cannot just run flashcards and expect our students to display the skill in every setting. Working on sight words in a variety of ways, settings, and with different materials is the perfect way to get them to generalize!

These Sight word cards print in black and white, which allows you to color code them according to student or level. You can have each student going after a certain color, or you can separate by sight word level!

How to play: There are so many ways to use this resource to play!

Give each student a bean bag and a color card to go after. Have the student throw the bean bag onto a card, and read that word aloud.

Have the student use the word in a sentence.

Have the student tell you the first letter of the word.

Why bean bag toss? Getting your students up and moving is proven to increase attention, independence, and drive to learn! Students will love getting up on their feet to play this fun game!
