Winter Free Task Box Sort

It’s that time again for another awesome freebie to build your independent work library. This one is a winter theme…. because in New England… once it gets cold we are all about the mittens and hats! If you aren’t from an area that needs these items, this is a great introduction and labeling activity for your students.

For lower level students, use this as a basic errorless learning activity. Have students place the hats on the hat mat- that’s it! If you want to kick it up a notch they can sort the colors by row.

These students can then use the mittens the same way…. but this freebie gives you two activities instead of just one!

For students who are ready to sort… they can sort the hats and mittens! Mix them up and place them in a bin for students to pull from. Need an extra prompt? Don’t make it verbal! Start each mat with ONE piece on it as a visual reminder to match to!

These simple tasks are PERFECT for independent work. The multiple pieces makes it take a bit of time to complete, but they have a clear beginning and end making for a great structured activity for students just starting to work independently.

You can get this FREE work task when subscribing to my email list here.

Already on the list? Click here.

Stay tuned for next month’s freebie to add to your library!
