Being a special education teacher means having a TON of different supplies on hand depending on student needs. Let’s get you organized with this list of 8 MUST-HAVE organization items for your special education classroom below!

8 MUST-HAVE ORGANIZATION ITEMS FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION:

3 drawer organizer cart

#1-3 Drawer Organizer Cart

Independence is something I strongly promote within special education classrooms. The 3 Drawer Independent Work Box Station is something I implemented LONG ago in my classroom. Did you know you can build an Independent Work Center entirely for FREE by signing up for the Simply Free Library?

#2-File Holder Organizer Box

These boxes are great to use to keep your file folders organized. You can group sets of file folders in each bin according to subject or season for easy access. They can easily be stored in a shelf or closet without taking up a ton of room!

3 ring binders

#3-3 Ring Binders

3 ring binders are LIFE in special education, aren’t they?! I mean-I feel like I used them for almost everything in my classroom! Every student had a take home binder for their Daily Communication Logs and a data binder to keep track of IEP goals. Plus, items like Simple Math Curriculum and Simple ELA Curriculum were kept in binders. This way, I could easily pull it out to make copies. I feel like special education teachers can never have enough binders!

iPad charging station
This charging station holds up to 5 iPads and is UNDER $50!

#4-Ipad Charging Station

An iPad charging station is a MUST in any classroom these days! Why? Technology is present in EVERY classroom including special education! Make sure you have a secure place to store your devices in your classroom.

#5-Plastic Bins with Lids

These gorgeous colorful bins with lids pair perfectly for storing Simple Fine Motor Centers in them! I LOVE these bins! They stack easily and are just large enough to hold the supplies needed. Plus, they are not too difficult for students to open!

#6-Drawer Storage Cabinet for Visuals

This storage cabinet is PERFECT for organizing your entire set of visuals as a special education teacher! I used to keep this on my desk for all staff members to easily access in my room.  I would just put multiple sets of each visual in the drawers to easily grab! Need some examples of how to use visuals in your special education classroom? This blog post is all about how to use different visual schedules.

#7-Storage Boxes with Lids-Pack of 12

These clear plastic storage bins with lids are what I used for my task boxes in my special needs classroom. They fit inside the 3 Drawer Organizer Cart perfectly for your 3 Drawer Independent Work Box Station and students can maneuver the lids pretty easily. I used these task box labels on the front of them. The boxes are clear, which makes it easy to see inside as well! If you want to read more on how to organize task boxes, check out these posts:

These bins are perfect for storing data binders or adapted books!

#8-Really Good Stuff Book & Binder Bins

These plastic book bins are perfect for storing data binders or adapted books in. Why? They are durable, hold up well and come in plenty of different colors to match any classroom decor.

STAY ORGANIZED THIS YEAR!

Being organized will make your year run much more smoothly! It helps to have systems in place in your classroom from the start. What are your favorite organizational items?
